A SMALL ACTION CAN LEAD TO A HUGE IMPACT
Last April I was running around managing two events happening at the same time. As I was leaving the lounge area, I noticed a high school senior looking confused and stressed. I checked in with him to see what was happening. He was having trouble understanding some financial requests that the college that he recently got accepted to was asking for.
At first, I told him that I could check with him later as I didn’t have much time. But as soon as I was about the leave the room, I turned around and asked him to walk over to my office with me so I can take a closer look.
After spending 5 minutes reading through the email he received; I helped him fill out a financial aid form and sent an email to the financial aid office with the information they were requesting.
It made me feel happy seeing his face and body show a sigh of relief. It also reminded me of the reason why I work with Y-Scholars: to help first-gen college-bound students navigate through the high education system.
Help me support more Y-Scholars by making a donation to my fundraising campaign today.
